    Hi All,

I am looking to get hold of a load sill protector for my Passat Saloon as myself and the wife have recently had a baby and i dont want to damage the top of my bumper by dragging a pram in and out of the boot.

Anyone who has web site addresses or companies that stock these for my car would be greatly appreciated.

There was a thread about this just recently. It related to an estate, but most of it was relevant to saloons as well. Worth checking the archive.

VW sell a clear, thick, polycarbonate film which you can stick on (I have one of these - it's almost invisible, and it works well). As I recall, someone etse said you can also get a black plastic trim strip from VW, but this may only be for the estate. Similarly, stainless steel trim strips are available on eBay.

The clear trim would be ok but i already have a few scuffs on the top edge of the bumper from the last owner so ideally i want them covered up.

Can anyone confirm if the estate load protector would fit the saloon also?

It was steel, good quality, cost me about £35 and no, I don't have a link unfortunately (I'll look through my PayPal records though...)

Here's mine, from Ebay. It came with sill protectors for the doors. I reckon though it was for the estate as it was 10mm too deep and I had to cut it.

When you say too deep do you mean too long? and you had to cut the length? or do you mean too deep as in the thickness?

Front to back, as opposed to side to side. When supplied it seemed to hang over the edge of the bumper a little, presenting a lip.

I cut about 10mm off it. It's now about 80 mm and ends just short of the start of the downward curve of the bumper. I then had to mess about with the adhesive strip.

Check dimensions with the supplier before buying. I didn't.
