alright folks, was wondering if anyone can help me out... i have a 2001 golf gti 20 valve turbo and im having some trouble with it... sometimes when i put the foot down it doesnt do anything for a sec then shoots off. ive ruled out turbo lag coz it can happen from sitting still. feels like something is holding the car back and letting it go if you know what i mean???

    cheers.

Is it an automatic? And does it feel like the engine is revving, but the car isn't moving, with a sudden jerk? Mine is doing something similar..

If so, could be the gearbox..?

no its a manual, dont think its the gear box, i would hazard a guess at a dodgy sensor but im not a mechanic. it also takes a min to idle properly if its been sitting for a few hours. if i dont wait for it to idle before setting off it has no power and just splutters away.

    cheers
