Alarm works via ccm under passenger carpet. Check how wet that is and check the wiring too it. You will have to carefully unwrap the wires to examine them. They corrode especially at joints. After that you are looking for trigger points which include all doors, boot and bonnet. Have fun

The alarm failure is caused by the water ingress through the pollen filter.
Fix the water issue, remove and dry out the carpet and the ecu and bobs yer auntie the alarm will be fine - well mine was after doing all that...

My ECU had some water in it (couple of tea spoons) but as I park backwards down a hill the majority of the water ran past the ECU.

Best of luck with the fix. The guy who put this (http://www.weirdlittlebiscuit.com/passat/leak/ ) together is , in my book, a GOD!

Pay particular attention to unblocking the drain holes under the battery and the servo. I DID clear both and 1 year on they blocked again and flooded the off side - I'll be checking every 6 months from now on. I now need to find out how to remove the sill trim and the drivers seat so I can lift and dry out the carpet - I hate VW and MY Passat!

    Best of luck

I'm not too sure but I think it should vent under the car around the pax footwell area.

FOUND THE LEAK pulled the carpet back and removed the silver box with wires goin into it and there was a pipe which i think might of been aircon pipe the grommet that it is supposed to sit in was twisted and the pipe was pointing to the pass. floor instead of through the grommet so took grommet out and put it back into shape and sealed it with half a tube of silicone so fingers crossed thats it sorted cheers for all your help

Consider the weather, have you had the aircon on that much? did you have the battery out and clear the drain valve below it? The plenum chamber flood can occur without having to go through the pollen filter, it can pass through the grommet sealing the air con pipes (this is well below the pollen filter). Fingers crossed is superstion, facts are needed!
