In addition to my question about the air flow meter in this section, I just thought I'd ask this out of curiosity:

Can disconnecting the battery for a short period cause a problem with the ECU?

I've seen mention around the forums of other people who've had the same problem as me (after battery changed or disconnected, MAF issue symptoms appear) so was wondering about this.

Is it possible to reset the computer by leaving the battery disconnected for 30 mins and will this affect my lock remotes?

    Thanks.

I think it is possible that it could have affected the performance of the car... but not 100% sure. I know that when i had an Astra last year, i disconnected the battery for 30 mins and it reset the ecu. The ecu then learned everything again from my driving style to determine fuel mix etc. i dont think the locks will be affected but the electric windows might and you will have to set them up to go up or down by one touch. you will also need your radio code.
