    Hi,
Anyone got a 2.7 or 3.0 TDi with an auto box - quattro or not? What sort of real life fuel consumption are you seeing?

Looking to move up from an A41.9TDI - saw an advert for a used A6 3.0TDI quattro claiming 45mpg - is that realistic?

Thanks - didn't see those. Some of the reviews suggest that in quattro form there's very little difference in consumption between the 2.7 and the 3.0tdi, but the 3.0 has about 25% more torque and is much nicer to drive.

    I'm getting 24-26mpg around town and 35-36mpg on motorway crusing @ 80ish.

Round town for me in devon is alot of stop start up hill etc. I do tend to "drive" rather than worry about fuel. I'm sure I could save a bit if I wanted to but an average of 30mpg is fine for me.

Yeah, that sounds more like what I was expecting - 45 sounded like wishful thinking. Its still excellent - I used to get that in a Ford Focus!. I don't think its that much lower that the 2.0TDI quattro's get either.

I'm getting about 32 - 35mpg in a 2.0TDi auto around town (mainly in the óptimistically named Sport's mode), low 40's on the motorway.

    Would love a 3.0TDi though
Current - 2002 Audi A6 2.5TDi Avant quattro (loved), 2012 Ford S Max 2.2 tdci Titanium X (serves a purpose), 1983 VW Golf GTI campaign (loved)
Previous - 2007 Volvo XC90 D5 SE Lux (gone, hated), 2002 Audi A3 1.9TDi Sport quattro (gone, liked and missed), 2011 Audi A6 2.0TDi SE (gone, loved and missed), 2007 Audi A6 2.0TDi SE (gone thankfully), 1999 Audi A6 2.5TDi quattro (gone, loved and missed)

I went from an 03 1.9tdi quattro A4 sport where I was averaging around 550 miles/tank (42mpg ish) and I was pretty heavy on the right foot. I'm now in an A6 3.0tdi quattro for around 2 months, and have changed my driving style a little. Nursing the car along ie keeping to the limits and no crazy acceleration the computer will show around 41-42mpg on a motorway journey, the reality however I'm averaging around 35mpg over a tank of fuel.
On the topic of driving the car, the A4 wanted to be chucked around wheras the A6 prefers to cruise and is a little less composed on the corners.
