Ive had my 150 for five years... I still love it to bits!

They can be expensive like Crasher rightly says, though Ive not had any of the expensive cam problems with mine (I say whilst firmly gripping a heafty chunk of wood!).

At the end of the day, you take a chance when buying any used car. If a 130 has been poorly looked after it is going to cost you bucket loads!

Id say, if you can get a nice 150, that has had regular oil changes/services (NOT on a longlife - every 20000+ miles) and been generally well looked after, then go for it. Dont be tempted to buy the 1st one you see (See below!)... even if it IS black!

I was lucky finding mine - OK , yes it was the 1st one I looked at... but it was 'a gud un', and ticked all the right boxes - services/history etc. Even the owner knew it needed special PD oil (Always a good sign!).

That is the most important thing in my book, that the services have either been carried out by VW, as they will put the PD oil in, or the owner knows it needs PD oil and has insisted it is used wherever it was serviced.

I think we will sway away from the one in the link as the dealer knew nothing about it, no idea where it was serviced, only that it has a FSH, he didnt even realise it was supposed to have an engine cover and that the aluminium hoses weren't standard!? Also, it only had one key, so that would prove expensive to get the locks changed and have a new slave key.

For those reasons I don't think I would touch it, as I really would need the piece of mind of knowing the PD oil was used throughout. And if it was, some haggling would still be required due to the missing engine cover and the modification on the engine (which makes me think it had possibly had a remap?)

    I like the quote:
"Bit like keeping a high maintenance women, expensive, but scream on demand and like being pumped hard...."

I just have to make sure that she has received high maintenence and hasn't been pumped too hard for too long!
