    Hi all,
I posted a thread about this problem a month ago but the response was poor so I need some good help this time. I have a 1.8T quattro, first of the B5 series. I have a buzzing sound in place of the turbo whistle for the last month, this only starts when the engine is up to temperature and stays there until I stop up and let the engine cool. The red oil light comes on the split second after the buzz and will continue to go off and on in time with the buzzing noise. I've replaced the oil sensors on the sump and oil filter housing but it's not making a difference to the light. Does anyone know if there's a problem with the turbo on these or can anyone throw some light on this? It has my head melted at this stage! Thanks in advance.

    check oil presure!
if the oil pressure is low it could of damaged the turbo due to oil starvation
the oil feed pipes block so it should be checked

Thanks for getting back to me, much appreciated! The local mechanic I gave it to recently reckons the oil pressure is fine but I don't have the equipment to test this, is there a way of checking this or signs of what you are talking about? Should I remove the oil feed pipes and check for blocking? Is there a way of knowing if the turbo is damaged?

you could remove oil feed pipe and check for blockage
also you can check the turbo for excess play remove the intake pipe to the turbo and remove the exhaust downpipe so you can check the impellor to se if it has too much rock and movement also to check if it is seizing up
