    hi all
    not posted for awhile found and able to fix most problems using previous posts so thanks. have a question - recently bought a rear ashtray and it has a connector attached which i think is used to illuminate the thing when its open problem is there's nothing to connect it to, my old ashtray did'nt have this connector.
    any thoughts? the car is a passatt estate 02

    Presumably the replacement ashtray was from a car with a higher spec than yours, hence the lighting connector. Its very unlikely that VW will have wired in the connector on a car which was never going to need it. I'd just forget about it.

    My 53 plate Passat Estate has a 12V outlet above the rear ashtray, is the connector something to do with this?

    had a look at my outlet could'nt see anything to connect it to but thanks for the reply
