    Hi guys
    Is there some knowledgeable guys on here that can help regards an OBD2 scanner for my car only I am getting conflicking advise.

    The car is a VW passat 2005 model 1.9 Highline TDI 130 bhp only there is no sticker under the bonnet or in the boot to say it is compliant

    Yes it is OBD II/EOBD compliant in its code reading abilities.

    Don't forget OBD is only for emissions and as such is useless for general diagnostics, such as air bags, remote central locking, alarms etc.

    If I was you I would ask on here if anyone has one and if it actually does what is claimed. At least that way you will know what you are paying for. For £260.00 you could get the latest vag-com and that is practically as good as the dealer machines.

    Before I buy anything I always google the item and put reviews from buyers.

    The reviews came up as a brilliant bit of kit and does everything it says it should.

    Seriously, for that money, if you own a lap top you would be insane not to buy VCDS, the backup and knowledge base is second only to having a £5K dealer level VAS1552a.

    Scanner arrived this morning and it is brilliant does exactly as it says,checks everything.

    Don't have a laptop and don't realy want one so this will do fine.

    That's great Norman, let us all know how you get on with it. A lot of people ask about suitable hand held diagnostic machines, your feedback would help them.
