    Hi
This is my first post so please be gentle!!!!
I have a 1998 SE 1.8t 20 valve Passat estate with electric mirrors. My electric mirror switch has a position forwards which my handbook states the mirrors will be folded in electrically if the switch is moved to this position.
On my car this position does not seem to do anything but the mirrors can be adjusted ok using the normal mirror switch positions and the heated mirrors are also ok.Should the power folding mirrors work on my car or if it is a fault any ideas where to look?
    Many thanks

I'd guess that your switch, sometime prior to your ownership, has been broken and replaced with the only switch VW now make - the one with the folding function graphic.

Folding mirrors weren't an option back in 98 as far as I know

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

many thanks for your replies.I think that the switch being replaced in the past is the probable answer. The handbook I I recieved with the car is probably also from a later year as well as it also shows this switch.
Well I guess its back to manually folding the mirrors then!!!!!!!

My 2000 passat tdi sport has the same power folding mirror function function indicated,Manual shows how it should work but never has and its original part. so you are not alone.

Same issue here. I have an 1999 TDI Passat, I have the folding mirror icon on the switch housing but does nothing when I turn the knob there.

    Sorry for the thread resurrection!
