over the last couple of wks ive noticed my 53plate s4 popping out of 2nd..no other gear but 2nd.
sometimes it doesnt, sometimes it does..but im noticing that its getting more frequent.
Ive spoke to the garage opposite to my work who is ran by an honest guy and alot of our cars have gone there for bits and bobs.
He's said that its either gonna be the gear being worn and not holding in gear (or soemthing like that),or something to do with the synchro and mentioned a mod kit you can get for the synchro unit.
either way,its a gearbox out and strip to find out exactly whats going on.

Has anyone else experienced this and have any useful info regards all this?
I wanted to sell my car and was gonna advertise this wk..now i have to sort this out and maybe looking at having to spend a grand for my troubles.
    any info greatly appreciated.

Different model but mine had a problem with 2nd where if I stopped whilst in 2nd gear then tried to remove it from 2nd it was a no go, totally locked in 2nd, would be fine on the move until one day the whole box got stiff then when I accellerated in 2nd it crunched and came out of 2nd. The synchro had worn all of it's teeth and I lost 2nd gear.

Got a new synchro ring for about £30 and was as good as new after and still is nearly 20k miles later.
