Anyone bought one for their BT prep? I thought i might be able to buy one a bit cheaper somewhere but it seems that audi have the monoply on this unless anyone can suggest anywhere else to look?

Also has anyone bought the Sim Access Profile? Is it any good?

I beleive Remote Sim Access Profile (otherwise known as rSAP) is a standard feature of Mobile Phone Prep Low (Option code 9ZF from the audi book) which'll put your phone into low battery consumption when connected to your car. The connecting phone needs to be rSAP compatible\enabled however so it might not work with all phones.

sap is only available with phone prep systems using mmi high or 3g so that will be A8,A6,Q7 etc using MOST bus fibre optic 8P A3 supports universal prep and bluetooth prep rsap adaptors can be used to overcome this but in general its hands free profile. You can remove the universal prep control unit and replace it with bluetooth module for more functionality but you will still pair using hfp but you will use the control units gsm unlike universal where you will use the phones gsm if the cradle is not used so bluetooth prep is favoured for A3,TT,B6 and B7 models

    9ZF is universal phone prep

    in the cradle
wire connection so gsm aerial on the car and full phone book

    bluetooth hands free profile

Bluetooth (with or without adapter station). uses the phone gsm and the phone book will transfer if the phone is approved

You can use voice control without the cradle and full mfsw operation is possible to activate voice and search phone book plus push to talk
