i went to my car today, and put my foot on the clutch and it went straight to the floor, and a black piece of plastic fell down from the pedal area, looks like it has fallen from near where there is a white piece of plastic too, any ne have any ideas.

    needs new pedal
they are a bit tight to do if you remove complete pedal assy but you should be able to change just the pedal the over centre spring will be a sod if you just do pedal

very common problem mate, have a search on the TTforum.co.uk as there are loads and loads of posts on this and i think even a diy guide to changing it, some have bought a new one and had some additional welding done to strengthen it before putting it in.

It is a bugger of a job though and if you can get the seat out it will help and the steering wheel would be a bonus.

Hi i have just done mine, pain in the backside job, dont buy a new pedal from VAG they sell you the same one with exactly the same weak weld points, i had mine welded and strengthened, if the black plastic bit has snapped a new one is a couple of pounds to replace, but getting the white clip on the end of the master cylinder pushrod back into the pedal assembly is a nightmare i downloaded some instructions from the web, someone had done it before and had taken loads of pics to show the repair it was really useful
