Too much exhaust gas recirculation with reduced output, and black smoke, and much the same symptoms as a faulty AMM.Since you have replaced the turbo, and replaced the AMM,checked all the hoses,i would go for the charge pressure control valve. You can test the valves if you have diagnostic equipment in final control diagnosis

Not the vacuum valve either kenny!

manifold pressure sensor is the fault. Is this the sensor on the inlet side, sitting on the pipework after the intercooler?

Have I already said this is the last chance?

    17564 - Manifold Pressure Sensor (G71): Open/Short to Ground

I think relates to the sensor on the pipe from the intercooler. Took the sensor off and cleaned it with solvent cleaner, car worked, then stopped. Will get the new switch tomorrow from dealers.

looks like the end of the saga.

Yes that is correct, but you are relating to a different code than the one in your first post

    Its still not solved??

Codes have just been cleared. The car is running fine with the new manifold pressure sensor most of the time (round town), then occasionally on the motor-way when you accelerate it dies again.
Will wait on it happening again for the new codes.

Kenny you were right, this sensor was not my original post, it was mentioned after I fitted the new turbo. Thanks again for your help, it has been most valued.

As things stand just now the only new parts fitted are the turbo and the manifold pressure sensor. All else is original.

    Back to square 1, almost.

Car drives great, as it should then hits limp mode. Off and on with ignition, fault resets then comes back.

Fault Code 17964 Charge Pressure Control Negative Deviation (Intermittent)

What symptoms does the Charge pressure solenoid valve give if it fails? Shoul dI have kept a hold of this £36 new part?

I wish the VW garage was on my doorstep.....it nearly is with this forum, however I still have to obtain parts....

it will result in the symptoms you have. Not only that but you have replaced the turbo,AMM,and the pressure sensor,so basicallythere is only the charge pressure solinoid left.I can not understand why the workshop, did not try the cheapest possibility first.

Because it is not a workshop, it is me at home
The garage locally advised on the symptoms and the amount of Taxi turbos having been changed with the same symptoms. I then read up a load of possibilities, and would agree, but having changed all these parts at some point and not seen any difference it leaves me wondering?
I had a new solenoid valve on the car on Tuesday, it made no difference to the problem. But as you have rightly said, its the only part left.

Learn something new every day. Thanks again.
