"R"Reg 1997 Audi A4 B5 1.8 SE Petrol - Fuel Pump

After recently breaking down in birmingham and taking over 8 hours to be rescued
We traced the fault to be the fuel pump
I recently replaced the fault original with an aftermarket BOSH fuel pump

The car now starts and runs but is sometimes hesitant and lacks abit of power (same symptoms as we had when the fuel pump was on its way out)
And sometimes the car wont start unless you turn the ignition on twice (Allowing the fuel pump to come on twice too)

I suspect because the fuel pump is a cheaper aftermarket replacement that it might not be displacing the right amount of fuel

I will be removing the pump (yet again) to change over the plastic mounting brackets as the original one is a little different

But as a quick question just wanted to ask could there be anything else affecting the performance or slight start-up issue ?

Will be undertaking the task of removing the fuel pump (again) tomorrow and checking all fuel lines
Could do with a quick reply

Also the car on start-up tends to rattle for afew seconds ... am i right in saying the engine also has a chain ?
(1.8 20 valve non turbo)

Could the slight rattle be a tensioner worn / on its way out ??
