1998 Audi A4 Avant 1.8 non turbo

Just about to do an oil change. However I am a bit confused as to which is transmission fluid and which is oil? Without removing the sump guard there is a plug visible with a weird hexagonal shape hole and when I remove the sump guard there is a another plug with a regular bolt however it is sideways mounted?! Can anyone confirm (maybe with a pic?) where the sump plug is for the engine oil.

you want the normal bolt on the side of the lower half of the sump to change the engine oil. the other one with a recess for a large allen(hex) key will be for the transmission oil.

Thanks for that! I used my common sense and realised that the one on the side had to be the engine oil and have now changed the oil and filter.

As a side note does anyone know where I can get transmission fluid, how much it holds and how often it should be changed? Changing to 1st and reverse when the car is staionary is very "notchy" and hope a fluid change might help!
