I have greased the shafts of the front wiper mechanism and it now sweeps the wipers as it should. I did of course remove the mechanism to do the job.The problem is that the wipers park in a position halway accross the screen. Any solutions please rather than guesses? Thanks to all who reply.

if you have removed the crank arm from the wiper motor,i would say you have not fitted it in the right position
