I have added a smidgeon of red paint to my control knobs to make their positions more obvious at a casual glance, at least from the driver's aspect. To my mind the small red spot (illuminated at night) is too insignificant.

    And a closer shot.

What are you playing at, it's a Golf not an airfix model!

Anyway I'm sure they look clearer but my eyesight is personally good enough to be able to see the existing dial marks perfectly well. Now off you go to VW to order some replacement knobs!

Thanks for all the support. I'm quite fastidious believe it or not and don't like poor design but don't think my efforts look too amateurish. However, I must be alone in thinking that. Ah well, you can't win 'em all.
Personally, I am very pleased with the final results which look better in the flesh, so to speak.

In all seriousness I think it looks like you've done a good job. I just don't have the motivation to do anything similar as I can't see much of a problem in the first place. I can easily see the existing mark with one glance.

What I do have a problem with however is the quality of the actual material and the lack of 'notchiness' when moving from one position to another. Feels like a Fisher Price toy.

    "Lack of 'notchiness'".
Precisely. But I have to admit that I am already getting used to moving the distribution knob with a light touch, as there are discernible (just) clicks between the each 90 degree sector.

Do I spot the volume control pointed up in an OCD style?

(I used to do that - the volume control **always** had to point upwards)....

I used to do that with my watch, ake sure the zero marker on the bezel was always pointing up. However I swiftly learnt that this was unattractive to females that then believe you to be some kind of **** weirdo, so now I make sure it's never pointing straight up .

The stopwatch hand on my watch has a mind of its own and will **never** reset upwards (currently it's gone round to 25 seconds) - I think nothing of running it for 35 seconds to ensure that it points correctly.

Not to mention the fact that I hate my watch being more than 15 seconds out and I will, and have, sat in my car waiting for the "pips" so as to set my watch.

    Nuts? Me?

No, no, no! Purely coincidental. I thought that I had arranged all the heater controls so that the red marks were facing upwards, purely for photography purposes but even one of those was not where it should have been.
Perhaps your comments says something about your OCD proclivity!

Aw, c'mon - at least I can admit my OCD tendencies

TBH - I don't do this with my heater controls - and my Clarion stereo only has one "knob" and it doesn't have a start/stop position and no markers.

My OCD is only my watch
