    For those of you who just read that and don't have a clue what im talking about.

    Needle sweep is where the needle starts at 0 on both speedo and rev counter. As soon as you turn the ignition 1 click, they both swing round to the right and back again. You see them in promo videos for the RS and R8 adverts/promos.

    My question is:

    I've noticed this on a lot of the R8, RS4/6 and S5 videos on youtube. Is this feature a standard novelty for these classes of car. Or do they have to get it enabled too? I believe they also come with lap timers (so does the S3)

    someone also asked about this for a golf as they saw this on a veyron in top gear.

    I could do this on my old 306 by disconnecting the battery for a bit and starting it after re-connecting it. I guess it was some kind of self-diagnostic.
