This is my first post and am prepared to be bashed.
I had seen the led 24cm flexible strips on ebay and bought 2 pairs.
I wanted to attempt fitting them to our A6 without them looking too naff or a bad DIY job. The pictures here are before final fitting where I sealed the edges of the perspex covers with clear silicone.
It took quite a long time of trial and error to get this far however I was fairly pleased with the finished job.
I connected them to a hot ignition feed which also delays the switch off when the key is removed by about 10 seconds
I thought that one strip of leds was a bit puny so each side has 2 strips
I welcome your comments and any ideas

    Jim

Good work fella, hopefully going to be collecting my 02 A6 over the weekend and LED running lights are on the list.........I know you said it was to a live ignition wire, but where abouts did you splice the wires into?

There is a cable loom going to a plug/socket at the bulkhead end of the engine compartment. I spotted a decent sized "pink" wire that looked a possibility. The method I use is to push a small sewing needle through the wires insulation into the wire to be tested. Checking with a 12volt bulb, that has a couple of wires/croc clips soldered on.
If you guess wrong then the pierced wire is not damaged when you pull out the needle.

I was considering this, very nicely installed but imo looks too aftermarket for my tastes.
Has anyone tried opening up the headlight housing? was thinking of running them along the bottom front edge of the headlight??

Here is my implementation (might need a bit of tweaking) on a 2003 A6

The 'driving' 12 Volt is taken off the wires going to the heated windscreen washers as shown on the second photo.
