I ask as my pride-n-joy is outside the front windows at night, parked on the road. Thursday/Friday night last week some bas**rd decided to drive into the front wing on the "exposed" side (which is the passengers side) which is doubly impressive given I was in a row of parked cars so you had to literally swerve into it to hit it (or be backing into a space and clobber it). They've put a highly visible dent in the profile of the wheel arch (and you can feel a kink in the inside of the arch) plus left a dark paint streak and a load of placcy bumper residue.

    Alarm did nothing.

What does it actually need to set the damn thing off? A war going on on the bonnet?

    Cheers,
    Dan.

    Does the alarm work ?
    The siren is vert quiet.
You can try setting it off yourself, lock the car with a window open then wave your arm about inside the car to set it off.

It's not that quiet - and yes it works, doubly so when I leave the dog in the boot and forget to disable the internal sensors....

I was more alarmed (pun intended) that so far it seems to have done nothing with respect to people meddling from the outside.....

    Cheers,
    Dan.

I wonder if the tilt sensor only works in one plane? In other words, a collision with the front of the car might jolt it but not necessarily in a way that the tilt sensor would recognise. Just a thought.

The sensor itself is fairly sensitive, though. Mine was set off when a friend sat on my towbar-mounted cycle carrier, causing the rear suspension to settle by an inch or so...
