First time post so hope this is in the right section!!

I've got a mark v golf gti with standard rcd 300 stereo. I've been looking for iPod connection kits and the best out there seem to be the xcarlink, dension or dice systems. Now my question is which is the best? Has anyone got any experience of these systems and if so how do you rate them? Also how easy were they to fit! I've found a few picture guides showing how to get the stereo out and it doesn't look that difficult!!!!

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi mattyboy

i've not got one of the premium ones, but a cheap one, similar to the standard aux in cables the later golfs had (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=160341397785). for £30 it works a treat, and wasn't hard to fit using the many guides on these sites. took me half an hour. Just remember to earth it and you'll have no problem at all

I fitted the standard vw ipod connection to my mk 5 60 quid from ebay took about 2hrs to fit though that night me by inept skills. works as if a cd changer is fitted disc 1 = playlist 1 2,3,4,5 etc disc 6 is all tracks. not ideal with rcd300 as no track names are shown but seamless intergration ith the head unit and easy to use

The Dension 100/300 CAN is a much better solution for these, as they give full control through the MFA screen in the instrument cluster using either the wiper stalk or multi function wheel.

If anyone needs any further information then please get in touch as I am an authorised Dension dealer.

I have one of the cheap ones myself, but from looking at other sites they mention splicing the brown ground wire and tapping off that for the ground. I was just wondering could i just ground it off something metal instead of tapping off this wire??

I thought it was the case that the RCD300 couldn't display track info? Is this not the case? If it can, then I'm very interested!!!

The RCD300 itself can't, the control menus and text comes up on the MFA/MFD screen in the instrument cluster (a function of the Dension unit rather than the radio).

    See http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk/ne...cle.asp?id=118 for more details.
