The central locking and alarm are all in one box called the convenience unit and this is located under the dash to the right of the steering column above the relay plate.

    thanks for that.
As they are in the same box does this mean you cannot disable the alarm on its own would i have to disable the alarm and central locking together?

I imagine so, I have never tried it as I would just fix the problem.

On top of the relay plate, there are some fuses. The two on the left are known as S144 and S111 and are both 15 amp fuses. Removing these will shut down the alarm central locking and the alarm horn respectively.

hi, i have since located the fuses mentioned above and have removed one of them so now insted of the alarm sounding when you open the doors the indicators just flash which i can live with but obviously now my car is not protected by an alarm incase of break in etc.
Does anyone know if i was to remove the vw alarm immobiliser and replace it with an after market alarm/immobiliser would it all work as it should without the alarm sounding evrytime you open the door until you put the key in the ignition.

That doesn’t make sense, it would be far more sensible to have someone fix the factory fitted alarm rather than have some rats nest merchant throw up a bunch of wires under the dash and connect them where they land, which is what most look like. The VW alarm and immobiliser are also completely separate systems in separate units controlled by separate parts of the key.
