Parking Sensor Problems

Hi there

I recently had some accident damage repaired at a VW garage, but since I got the car back, the rear parking sensors don't work properly, and as such I ended up hitting a skip!

The fault ranges from the sensors not working at all, so them coming on the permanent tone as though I am very close to something even though I am not. Today, they didn't come on at all until I braked, then they sounded as though I was near something when I hadn't moved, and they kept going on and off like that.

VW say they have checked them on VAGcom, but there is no fault showing, and as they cannot recreate the fault themselves, they are saying there is nothing they can do, even though I have video footage of some of the instances when the fault has occurred, but they are not bothered.

Please can someone shed some light?

Hi,

I had a similar problem on my previous A6, where the sensors would sound the error tone, then work for a few seconds, then back to the error tone again. It was eventually traced to a faulty earth connection. If you've had work done to the rear of your car, maybe the earth point for the sensor unit has been disturbed and is causing an intermittent connection?
