New to Audis and new to this forum, so anyones help is greatly apreciated.

I've bought a 1998 a3 1.8 (non turbo) My oil light has started to come on, only sometimes though and generaly in the morning. I imagine this is to do with oil preasure. But i had a full 80,000 mile service done 2 months ago, and hoped all would be well. I called the garage that did the service and they are quoting over 500 quid saying it could be the pump. 1.8 are a nightmare acording to them.

Trust you guys more so what is the problem? should it realy cost that much? Any recomended garages near west london

    Thanks

    George

had it fixed now. It was the oil preasure switch. They should always check this first as they get blocked up or just get a bad connection. Cost- £20 for the part plus half an hour labour. We paid £49.30 inc vat. What they should also do is check the oil preasure anything above 20 psi is ok ours was 60 and sound. If it is low then this can indicate oil pump problems and as you all know no oil preasure = ruined engine.

Hope this helps anyone else out there
