Presumably this grommet is a small round rubber thing and is meant to be on the outside of the servo pipe? If so, are you 100% sure it went INTO the servo since that should be pretty hard to do - is it just possible it fell down some place OUTSIDE the servo and is waiting to be rescued?
If it did fall in I can't imagine it will be easy to get out other than possibly by suction... so if the rest of the new pipework is attached and you start the engine you should have a vacuum pipe that just might suck it up within reach !? (though I doubt it).
If you can't get it out I doubt it will affect the servo operation. Can you use insulating tape or similar to build up the diameter of the servo pipe so the new tubing will fit snugly over it? Good luck and let me know how you get on!

Thanks fo the fast response. I've kinda given up hope of getting the grommet back out with suction or wire hooks etc but am sure it went in :-(

Really need to get a spare one but can't locate anything that provides a safe fit - think it's about 21mm hole in servo and 14mm pipe to push into it.

Could have a go with tape but a bit scared it won't be a tight and secure fit and might cause brakes to give out on me at the wrong moment. Anyone else tried this idea or know where I can get a grommet to fit please?

I'd say a breakers is your best bet for the grommet, I would think that it will be pretty universal size wise so you may find one off any vw/seat servo may fit.

As for leaving the existing one inside, i'd have no idea. Only trying it will tell you. Have you tried having a fish about with a bent piece of wire? Be carefull not to pierce the diaphram thats inside as you'd deffinately need a new servo if you do.

Just been looking at a pattress - the metal backplate for a double electrical socket - the pre punched holes in it are designed to accept rubber grommets so as not to damage the cable. I'm thinking one of those bog standard, cheap, easily obtainable grommets might fit the bill for you. Just a thought! Good luck

Thanks - it certainly does fit the hole in the servo! The hole in the middle's too big for the pipe but narrows the gap so maybe I can now get away with the trusty silicone and a wiring grommet combined. fingers cross!
