  1. Air bag fault after replacing battery

    Hi guys,

Just had my battery replaced at a local garage, which also used another power supply as they changed over the battery, so I didn't have to put in the radio code, etc.

However, as soon as I drove away, the words 'AIR BAG FAULT' appeared on the on-board computer, and the air bag yellow icon lit up, and stayed on.

Did a quick u-turn to the garage which ran it through diagnostics and it came up with the following:

Control module diagnosis VW airbag VW error memory
    04C1 Ignition circuit side airbag
    Driver side front
    Highly resistive
    Error static

Anyone knows what this means, and more importantly, can this be easily fixed?

Could I just get the fault reset and hope it doesn't come up again?

Thanks - will get the garage to reset and I'll see if it comes back. After reading a few threads, some people have said to check the wires, etc under the driver's seat - do you think this would help do anything?
