I have never tried snow foaming, but having seen some of your pictures it looks like the way forward when my new Avant arrives. I wonder if anyone can answer a couple of questions:
    1. Do you have to have a pressure washer to snow foam - is there anything which works by just attaching to a hosepipe?
    2. I expect the answer to the 1st question is yes to the pressure washer - if so can anyone recommend a reasonable, but good value pressure washer - will only be used for cleaning the car and patio?
    3. What is the best (coupled with reasonable price) snow lance and snow foam to purchase?
    Thanks in anticipation of replies!

I couldn't bring my self to spend £50 on something to fit on the end of a hose especially as when you get your new car you will be buying snow foam, mitts, microfibre cloths, shampoos, polishes etc.

I bought a sprayer on the same website for about £9, it works, but not as good as the high end products.

I felt that if I was going to spend £50 I might aswell spend £100 and get a pressure washer.

Resistance is futile, I'll give it 6 months before you cave in and invest further

Got my snow foam gear yesterday (http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/elite-...nd-free-1l.php) and had some fun.
Had a few problems with getting it really foamy, but some adjustment on the valves and head by the end of it I had a nice thick foam (as opposed to drizzly white water) - didn't get a pic sorry (next time)

I will point out for anybody wondering, snow-foaming the car (and nothing else) isnt a substitute for a real clean. (even if the car was relatively clean before hand). Pretty obvious really, but i always want to know if there is a corner to be cut somewhere.

I have a couple question's about the foam.
How environmentally friendly is it? Should I worry about it soaking onto the grass or storm drains?

Is there a way to help disperse/breakup the mass of foam that is left over on the road/pavement/drive afterwards?

I find mine normally just disperses on it's own, if not a hose helping it down the nearest drain. I did find in winter it did not disperse and froze instead....so be careful if it's cold!!

I find the foam pretty has much dispersed by the time the car is washed and rinsed - I am not aware that it poses any environmental risks (widely used by trade and enthusiasts) - some professional valeters use a purpose built groundsheet for collecting foam but this is normally to do with location (in amongst other commercial premises).

I find the HD Foam lance works best with warm water (diluted with an inch of SSF in the 1l bottle). I have not used a Gilmour Foamer but I don't believe the results are anywhere near as good compared to the HD Foam Lance. I tend to use it more in the winter time to remove road salt.

Check out http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php for all your detailing needs!

Brilliant site, especially the The Studio and The Showroom under the Gallery section!

Some real exotic stuff getting detailed!

Question 2. - I've just got one of these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...=hotukdeals-21 & use 1 of these foam lances - http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washin.../prod_371.html with a kew/alto fitment for the Nilfisk PW.

They seem to be better than the Karcher stuff because they have an all metal pump instead of a plastic 1, or so I'm told anyway! Quite a bit cheaper than the Karcher too ( Sorry Martin! )
