The offside rear suspension spring on my "54" Touran has snapped even though I've only occassionally had 6 or 7 people in it. Can anyone advise if this is a known problem.

I wonder if the broken spring problem is anything to do with the proliferation of Speed Humps ?
Although not a VW I have had to replace two or three springs in the last few years on my commecial vehicle. This is something I never had to do previous to Humps.
    I cover between 30-50,000 miles a year.

I think its defo something to do with speed humps, but maybe also a VW fault, my touran 04 just had to have new springs, and only 50k, my van which has over 80k and always loaded, driven to destruction has never broken a spring......... its not VW though.

My 54 plate touran has just lost a rear nearside spring - the (independent) garage has just quoted £150 per side to replace, and recommends that I do both at the same time. Haven't phoned GSF yet, but surely a bit of bent steel can't be that expensive?

65k miles and not really overloaded (by me anyway!). But have been camping a bit lately.
