Hi all could anyone please help
I have what appears to be a common VAG-COM fault - airbag resistance to high!

    6N Polo drivers side

Just been onto VW and they want £111.55 for a slip ring

Didnt want to commit to second hand ebay one until I was sure it is the fault.

The plan! short out the wires with a 2 to 3 ohm resistor, clear fault and re-VAG COM it!

Are we chocks away for GO! - or am I being a silly bu&&er

    Edit part

To clarify please take a look at this drawing http://s990.photobucket.com/albums/a...Airbagtest.jpg

Firstly, I have no knowledge of the fault in question so my comments below may or may not be valid!
I wouldn't advise taking such action - you could set the airbag off accidentally or maybe it won't operate at all. I don't even think it will clear the fault. As I said at the top - I have no knowledge of this fault. These are just my thoughts from the little I know.

    Nothing blown up yet!

I just went for it! (what with the aniversary of the moon landing, if they can do that - I can do this!)

First experiment done - Bought a 2.7 ohm resistor from maplin, and shorted out the airbag circuit before the slip ring with the resistor, VAG-COM'd it and cleared fault. Fault disappeared but airbag light stayed on! - However when I disconnected the VAG-COM light went out - ALICK-HAS-HAM

By deduction it must be either the slip-ring or the airbag!

Next we shall do some testing of the slip ring! -I WILL BE BACK!
