Air Con compressor

Hello people,I,m looking for some help in identifying the aircon compressor on my 1998 B5 with the AFN engine.I cant read any of the lables with it in place and I dont want to drop it untill I replace it really as I'll have to payn the aircon man for two visits!!!
So I'm hoping some one may be able too tell me the part number before hand so I can get the part first then do the swap and recharge all at the same time.Any advice greatfully recieved.Thanks for now hope someone can help.

I think it's a Zexel compressor part No; 8DO 260 805M ( or ~805MX) which I think is the same thing.

Thanks for that I've just gone on ebay and found a cheap one so now I'll have to find out how much a complete re-gas is going to be.Thanks for the info very much appreciated

most places charge around £35 for a re-gas regardless of how much you need in your system as if they are doing it properly they should empty the system anyway as the system is measured with the weight of the gas .... also in the price they should check for leaks as the aircon gas has a uv dye in it.

Thanks Black magic not as bad as i thought then.Now just waiting for the pump to arrive to change it get the regas done and replace the shocks and replace the windscreen and should be all lovely again apart from the bank account!!!!!

I'm also looking to replace my air con pump, does it have to have the same part number as the old one or will other ones fit? I've found one that came off a TDI and only the last number is different? The belt shreaded itself a couple of years ago, made the car lurch which was a bit disconcerting, as well as leaving melted belt all over the place, I assume this means the compressor is knackered? Or could it be the tensioner?

Hi, if the car actually lurched when it went then I'd put money on the compressor being seized.As to the part numbers I'm not sure but generally I find that if only the last digit is diferent they generally fit but really you ought to check first,mine had a different letter on the end but is in a working great now it's all charged up,never been so cold!!!
