Can anyone please please kindly help me??!! I was stuck 120 miles from home Sunday night in the Lake District. Clitch pedal went straight to the floor at a roundabout (very dangerous) and white plastic bits were all in the footwell. Paid a fortune to get the car home and on closer inspection the weld on a tiny piece of metal has failed and the white plastic clip that the pushrod pushes into has broke. Now I need to get the pedal off to reweld the metal back on or buy another pedal but can't for the life of me see how you get the thing off. I've removed two clips either end of the rod that goes through the clutch and brake pedal but can't get the rod to move to the right hand side to drop the clutch pedal off. Also there is I think the drive by wire unit to the left which makes access even worst. I've just phoned my local VW specialist and he says its a common fault on the MK3s and not even he would want to do the job!! He says even if you get the pedal off its even harder to get it back on. Its sounding pretty terminal at the moment as the car needs a cambelt soon as well and the labour costs would be phenomenal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
