Dissapointed with forum!

Hi all,

Is everyone on here a snob or something?
Ive been a full member of some reputable clubs such as mkivsupra.net and gt4oc.net and have enjoyed many years of good chatting and advice.

I bought an a4 to save money (and because they are nice) and thought this forum would be a good place to ask simple non-idiotic questions but questions seem to only get answered based on how many posts you have.


My personal feeling feeling is that 'newbies' arent going to stay long so theres no point putting the effort in. Theres 110,000 members, surely this forum should be more active.

And for those who i know will get shirty, dont bother with the "we hear these questions all the time so were bored of them" because as a forum you should be helping other a4 owners.

You had good responses to your Question so far, I would hang in there it a great place and we would be sorry to lose you.

I find sometimes threads, especially the technical ones take a little longer to get an answer and if your trying something outside of normal maintenance then it takes allot of work to get all the info together.

I suggest you stick around, their is some real technical talent around here.

Thankyou for the quick reply. Im used to fast replies so maybe i should be more patient. Im not trying to stir up trouble i was just seeing if others had similar experiences.

I'll be sticking around for a while ( I need to as im retro fitting a/c to my a4 which should be interesting lol. Ill add a how to when its done

We're certainly not snobs on here.

There's forum member with everything from R8s, Phaetons, etc, to what some people might call 'bangers'.

As Rob says, patience is a virtue.

A lot of technical queries are also answered by pm but again responses may be slow as i for one cover many forums as well as work and helping other workshops and a 22 bay workshop which is full of problems at the moment.Crasher will be the same and he lives on here,but you say you are retro fitting a/c this begs the question WHY and at what cost.
Another reason post don't receive more technical answers is down to the information given,firstly engine code,fault code log ,symptom,history,conditions and how many times etc lots of members have been given a lot of help which takes time but don't feedback the results so you can kind of tell what's worth answering and what's not plus there is the search function and members refer other members to those who may have the answer.I nearly forgot to mention Kenny as well another long time fixer of faults

another reason technical queries don't get answered as quickly is perhaps
that most of us are just diy/spare time mechanics( i'm only a fitter on my mothers side),
and we don't like to lead you on goose chases by guessing at stuff.
it really doesn't help anyone much.

Well davbar1986, looking at the replies above you should truly stick around. Once you have your AC fitted don't forget to do write up to help the rest of us out too

Well said Stewy,there are no no it alls on here and most members are very keen to help and you may find more technical minded may add to your post to support or confirm and yes we do get some wrong and i have been known to visit members with problems and help them out foc of course.I am sorry if i only mentioned Crasher and Kenny as there are lots more members who regularly answer posts and lots of new members too
