    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/n...re/8129826.stm

I'm so angery about this how could the POLICE let this happen you see signs in carparks DOg Die in hot cars etc yet they leave dogs to die in a bhot police car. Those involved should lose thier jobs and face charges of animal cruelty

I agree with you 100% mark, the rspca will take owners to court for leaving dogs in hot cars, i wonder if the idiot who left the police dogs in the car will be charged, i somehow doubt it

absolutely disgusting, simply adds salt to the wound that this happened with police dogs.

of all the people you expect to be so stupid as to leave an animal in a car, baking in this heat, the police aren't one of them.

Whoever's directly responsible for that should be dealt with just like any other person would be.

    words simply fail me.

Or actually getting out there into Nottingham with the intent of preventing/detecting crime, something Nottinghamshire Police don’t seen to adept at. They spend hours buzzing around in the helicopter and crime round here is rife. Whoever is responsible for the death of those dogs should be prosecuted and lose their jobs/pensions.

    Disgusting.

I just don't get how it can't occur to someone that if it's that bloody hot a dog is going to struggle.

We've been so careful to ensure our cat has plenty of shade at home, lots of fresh food with water in, and we even bought an airconditioning unit last year to help keep the flat a bit cooler.

We even put placemats in the fridge to give her something nice a cool to lie on.

Dog handlers are meant to be professionals and selected for their superior skills with the dogs. They are also vetted for suitability and the home is assessed (suitable garden, no young children etc) These people are meant to be elite! During their training one of the topics is regarding how to look after them including welfare....erm!?!

Although the above is true in Devon and Cornwall Police, I suspect that Nottinghamshire have a similar system.

Agreed with all above posts. This is not what you would expect from police officers of all people.

Last week Hertfordshire police prosecuted my 73 year old mother for accidently allowing a relatives dog to escape and kill two other dogs.. She had to pay £1900 and pay a solicitor. She now has a criminal record and residents of Hertfordshire can sleep safely at night. Given this I should think that the dog officer will be fined £20,000, given a criminal record and be sacked.....As if..
