How often do they need changing? The cars done just over 135,000 miles. I've owned the car for over a year now and done over 25,000 miles and they havn't been changed in my ownership. I can't see any reords of them being replaced in the service book either. Although the car is running fine, I was just curious as to whether I should change them. Would the car run any better with new ones? And how hard are they to change?

Glow plugs only need to be changed if they have failed, a good indicator is when you start and the engine rattles more then normal and smokes. I have only had to replace one on a diesel citreon I have.

Glow plugs are very reliable these days, i went through 3 sets on my transporter 1600 diesel (1983) when i had it

Thats ok then, I think I'll leave them alone. Although it does smoke a bit and rattles if I don't put the choke on from cold start up, but thats understandable.

    Cheers

I second that! you can test by using a multimeter. disconect the power connection to each plug, then test the resistance between the probe and ground. if its around 1ohm then its ok.
