The hardest part can be getting the doorhandle off the doorskin! You do mean a doorlock? anyway, if you wish to avoid having different keys, you may be able to build up your own lock barrel. there are only a few different types of tumblers. it is the type of tumbler and sequence fitted, that determines the key shape. If you strip down another good lock, and copy the tumbler types and positions exactly, then the original key should operate it.

Yep. Its the replacement of the tumblers that I am talking about. Is it hard to rebove ther barrel? Are the tumblers easy to remove and add again? Sounds like something I could really screw up!!

I would not say it's hard to do, I wasn't joking about the handle getting stuck to the doorskin, but thinking about it some more, you don't need to do this bit.
If you remove the doorcard, I think there is a clip that holds a lever onto the inside end of the barrel. Remove the clip and remove the lever, and I think the barrel can then be slid out of it's housing. It might be wise to do this with the key inserted. With the key removed, the tumblers can be slid out.
Each tumbler has a small spring attached which becomes uncompressed when the tumbler is sticking out approx 2mm. Half of the tumblers come out one side of the barrel, half out the other side.
The tumblers are not symmetrical, so can only be fitted one way, as long as you keep track of which side and which slot it comes out of you should not go wrong.
If you need a good pattern to copy, the glovebox might be easiest option?
    Good luck!
