You could always try fitting a more free flow air filter and turning the fueling up a bit.........

How come? If it's an older petrol engine with a Carb then surely it'll make a slight difference? I don't mean wack the fueling up to the max! Just richen the mixture slightly, and with a bit more air going in aswell...........

Obviously it'd need an uprated exhaust to get full effect, but it was just an idea!

If your audi has the horrible keihin type carb that Audi used for a long time they are crap
mind you the pierburg is not far behind in the crap stakes either!
    a conversion I did on a friends 1.8s carb lhd Audi 80 1991 vintage i think
was to replace the cylinder head with a digifant gti head (c/w std cam) one after filling in the injector ports with jbwelb then smoothing them off, ported the rest of head 40thou skim ,reshaped the valves and seats and used an escort carburettor twin 38 downdraught mounted on a scirroco inlet manifold an audi 80 sport injection manifold and downpipe got rid of the cat,an ANSA performance exhaust system a K&N air filter with a ram air effect tube going to front of car for cold air
power check on a rolling road at Phoenix Green b4 work 67 BHP
    (the carb was knackered!)
    should have been 88 BHP
power run after resetting of carb jets by the girl at Phoenix Green 128 bhp
all figures were at flywheel after calculating trans losses
a hell of an increase but the audi head had tiny valves for the wieght of the car and the manifold were very restrictive
the only trouble you may have is with the manifold to carb matching up as not sure if the 2 ltr manifold is the same head to manifold fitting as an 1.8 or if specific to the 2.0 ltr like the injections are
Hope this is of some use to you.

oh and yes i did the brakes as well as they are worse than a mk1 gti's!
It was a big heavy car and only 12 non vented to stop with not a good recipe for fun unless you like the brown trousered type of driving!
