Trying to source flywheel locking tool VW ref no 3386 but cannot find any sources in UK to purchase can anyone help with a suitable company. Used to get most VAG tools from Vagparts in Swindon before they went bust and going to the VW agents is totally useless.

The VW dealer will normally oblige if you ask nicely but if not, see if you have a TPS in your area and they will be able help, or at least mine does.

Thanks Crasher will give TPS a call tomorrow as I already know what the local dealer will say and will post a reply and let you let you know the outcome.

When the DMF goes on those 1.9D Polo’s you think your fillings are going to fall out! I have tried one with a solid conversion and it was OK, if a little more harsh than one with a new DMF.

Yep your right plus this one sounds awfull as well metal hitting metal, but glad for your view on fitting the conversion, and live with extra harshness,
Ill let you know how the conversion goes with this one.

Just finished replacing the DMF witha Solid Flywheel Clutch kit from "Valeo", was a stright forward fit with the exception the DMF being jammed solid and took a lot of persuasion to release, to enable the flywheel bolts to be released. and of course needing endless numbers of fingers to refit the gear linkages.

The clutch does feel a lot lighter and I can't tell much differance between the original and the solid version but I suspect thats more to do with a jammed DMF which was not working.

Thanks to this forum for all its help
