I have owned my 2000 T4 since 90k & it has now done 207k - in that time I have had two sets of rear springs - they break near the bottom of the "pigtail".

    It's normal load is about 1/2 > 3/4 it's full load.

Anyone know of any heavier duty springs that I can fit or will I just have to put up with it evert 50k or so ?

    Thanks in advance.

I did see some on ebay once that were advertised as heavier duty springs, It said they were VAG springs and they did look heavy duty but saying that so do mine on my 1200 T4.

There might well be uprated springs available from VW so it might be worth calling your local van centre to see if any are available.

If your van is an 800 or 1000 you could always upgrade to 1200 springs to cope better with the weight.

By the way my near side rear spring broke in the same place as yours so probably a common place for them to snap.
    Matt.

Thanks guys - maybe if I can get a set of the ambulance one kenney suggested VAGMAN can fit them for me ?

Any chance of the part number please kenney ? - thanks in advance.

Other people have told me that this is a common fault - seems to be about the only weak spot to these otherwise bombproof vans.
