    Hi,

Has anyone else had problems with their Sat Nav location. Mine constantly says i am in a different place to where i actually am. I have tried setting the position manually in the options menu but it then races off faster than i am actually travelling and putting me on the wrong road again.

It is a retrofit Audi Navigation Plus RNS-E unit that was working fine when i bought the car. I have had the front wondow replaced and have had it in the garage due to battery draining issues (without a definite fix) so it has been disconnected a few times.

I thought this may be due to the wrong tyre size but i can't see an option for selecting this and the GPS should pick up on the speed so maybe its an issue with the maps?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Allan

Is the unit picking up satts ?
Check the GPS antenna is connected on the rear.
The hockey puck type antenna's used with retro fit's can fail and are around £15.

I'm not sure if it is picking up sats or not i pressumed it was as it does move when the vehicle is in motion just at a quicker pace, how could i find this out and where is the antenna located?

    Thanks

Go to Nav front screen, press Nav Info, scoll down, it will give you number of satts received.
The map will move if you have no satts due to the speed pulse signal.
Do you have factory fir or retro-fit Nav ?

You're right its not picking up any satts as it reads zero when i checked the nav info.

It is an 'audi navigation plus' installed by the previous owner.

Do you think the antenna needs replaced? Where is this located?

    Ok, retro-fit RNS-e.
Take the unit out and see if the antenna has unplugged, you'll need 4 radio removal keys i think.
The most common place to fit the antenna on a retro is on top of the glovebox, its easy to remove.
When the unit is out you'll be able to trace the wires to see where the antenna is located.
New antenna's are readily available, just make sure you get the right connector.

Yes i have the removal keys but everything seems to be plugged in.

I can also see a black unit on the dash above the glovebox so i pressume that will be the antenna although like i said it seems to be plugged in but it may be faulty.

    Appreciate the help.
