    Hi,

I have a 2002 A4 with Front Electric windows. I have only had the car a couple of weeks but there looks to be an issue with the electric windows not opening correctly (They wont open about 25% of the time). From fidling with the buttons the issue seems to be that sometimes when you press the button down to open the windows it actually trys to close the windows (E.g. if the window is half down I can press the button to open it further but it closes instead). The problem seems to effect both electric windows and on the passenger side looks to happen regardless of which swich you use. They seem to open ok if you open the windows via the remote locking. Anyone have any ideas on what would cause this?

Second related questions is how difficult is it retro fit electric windows in the back, are the cars pre-wired for this?

    Thanks,
    Rory

The doors are not prewired for electrical windows in the back, but you might have wires running to the connectors between the doors and the frame.

The retrofit will require a new window lift mech w/ motors, new door cards for the rear, new driver's door handle w/ 4 window buttons and all the wiring. IMO it's not worth it since it would be quite expensive and tedious.
