    Hi All,

Just picked up a Passat Saloon 1.9 TDi Highline on a 54 plate. Chuffed to bits with it... full spec, every extra you can get, stupidly low millage (11,000 miles) and in mint condition.

Theres just one problem... this is the newest car I've owned. Not because I couldnt afford one... older cars are easier to play with. The problem is Im actually allergic to standard cars. I get in, realise its just like the brochure and million other models, come out in a rash and start being sick. And I dont want to be sick over my nice leather seats!

So... the point of this post is to allow you all to sound off about any modifications that can be made to this car that will save me from imminent illness.

There are some constraints however. Due a slight... erm... brush I recently had with a road barrier in my now ever so slightly shorter MR2 spyder (lucky I had the roof down and got thrown out just before it decided to do end to end flips down the road)... my insurance group has gone up slightly.

So please let me know of any mods I can make that will change the essence of the car, the look of the car and the feel of the car and post any links to interesting sites, images and information.

Also... what should I look out for on the Passat? Known faults, snags or tendencies.

Cheers and look forward to hearing your ideas.

    R

Use the search facility and look for remaps.

Good increase from standard (130 bhp) to 170 and more with a huge increase in torque for not a lot of money.
Look out for rolling road days advertised on this web site as there is normally a deal to be had.
If it ain't broke leave it alone!!!

    Two things I can recommend:

    1. Replace the air filter with a K&N panel filter, it does make a bit of difference, plus you don't have to buy another filter ever.

Then later when you have got used to that....

    2. Take the grill and mesh out of neck of the MAF, that makes a real tangible difference.

But as you might already know....make any and all changes to the set up of the engine BEFORE any remap. Then the remap will be made taking into consideration, in line with and suiting the changes you have already made.
