Hi I recently purchased a A4 2.0 tdi S Line on a 55 plate. It has an uncomfortable idle that feels like a missfire. I can also slightly feel it when changing into second gear when the revs are a little too low and the engine is under load. Just feels like its holding back momentarily.
In my history documentation an Audi dealer has commented on this fault as being normal for the model and no fault found. Can anyone please comment on this as I cant believe this is normal as it is most uncomfortable. It is a BRE engine code if this helps and has 80k miles on it.

    Many thnaks in advance!

my idle is fine but mine hold back slightly too,
got it checked and it was returned to me saying
    that no faults recoreded,
doing my head in now cause I cant find a cure for it

Thanks interesting to know it is wider spread fault as others have said this is normal. I cant believe it is as who'd buy another if it was? Ive always had VW or Audi's and never had this before. Why is it these days if the diagnostic says no fault found the case is closed. Like you say does your head in. I will keep digging. Cheers!

Arh man sounds like youve had a right nightmare. Well mine is only a mild form of what you have or had there. Have you got on top of the problem now? You have given me food for thought though thanks very much mate and hope you are now sorted. Cheers!

Thanks for the info others have said this, but who'd buy another Audi if this was normal? I find this most most unerving when you feel the engine hesitate when accelerating in second. There must be someone with an answer to this even if it's at a price so watch this space!

hi to you all, this is my first pose. i also have an Audi a4 2005 b7 (blb)and i seem to notice that when accelerating using the cruise stalk the seemingly misfire feels worse, it is also is quite bad when accelerating up in a low gear i questioned kings Lynn Audi and Nottingham Audi and they both said its normal. this surly is wrong there must be something that can be done Ive been putting treatments in the fuel tank with not much difference, anyone help ?

Thats interesting, although my engine is different (2.5 tdi) it seems to do the same kind of thing, when it is cold and revs slightly higher it will purr like a kitten but when it warms up it seems to have the odd missfire that makes the car "wobble", in all the places that I have looked it is palmed of as being normal but I find that a bit hard to accept.
If I test drove a new car from Audi and it seemed to have the odd misfire I doubt they would say it was normal.
