What are the differences in the AVF(TDI130 6 speed in passat) and ASZ engines(TDI130 6 speed in bora) apart from being connected to a different gearbox and 1 being transversed and the other length ways?

I ask this because vw state that the passat gets to 60 quicker on paper (9.9) and the bora can only do it in 10.1. Also they state the passats top speed is 129mph and the boras is 127mph

Doesnt make sense to me as the passat is a good bit heavier than the bora(prob 200kg) and they both have 130bhp and 310nm torks YET the passat is down as being quicker...

Different ratios maybe. First gear may be shorter because a passat is heavier.

Complete ( though possibly educated ) guess.

Passat probably does'nt lose as much bhp through the gearbox as the Bora & are wheel & tyre sizes the same if not that would also make a difference

Yeah maybe...Id give ya a fiver for that answer .... Dont ya just love a question where nobody knows the answer.... Even if it is a bit childish

Oh the bora gets 16s as does the passat... A bigger tire would SLOW tthe car down ya know so the passat should be slower going by that anology...

Are the AVF and the ASZ engines identical internally? Whats the difference beteen the 02m 6 speed gearbox the and passat 6 speed?

Will slow the acceleration down but should make it a bit more long legged on top end speed.

Put the fiver in first charity box you come across

if a 16" wheel is rotating at 100rpm,we could assume that it would cover
    1600" per min.
    surely a 17" would cover 1700"
and an 18" would cover 1800" in the same minute?
does the larger wheel not make the car accelerate faster?
    can of worms,
    regards,

It is a big can of worms.
All down to different aspects wheel size, tyre size, bhp lost through the
    gearbox and gear ratios.
Im sure someone will come along and be a proper smart alec and know the answer

actually they wouldn't travel the diameter,(16,17,or18)
    they would travel the circumference
