    Hi All

    Newbie to VW's here

Recently I bought a 2001 Passat TDI Automatic with 66000 miles on the clock.
After about a week the brake warning light on the dashboard kept coming on, to which i assumed the pads had worn ?? upon taking the wheel of the pads looked OK but seeing as ihad bought some new pads i decided to fit them anyway. and Hey Presto no more warning light but now the brakes are very spongy (displaying all the signs of air in the system). although I cannot fathom out how this has happened as there was no fluid used, spilt, accesed or leaked.

Has anybody had similar problems/ is this common/ is there a cure other than bleeding the brakes (read somewhere about possible code error but not sure if that would affect the brakes)

    Please help

    Many thanks
    Kaptkv

How long ago did you fit the pads? If the discs are worn the spongy feeling brake may just be the new pads wearing to the shape of the worn discs. Hope this helps M
