    Hi All,

Whilst driving home yesterday my engine light came on. The car seems fine but I thought it best to plug it in to VAG-COM and see what it was. My findings are below.

    Address 01: Engine
    Controller: 8E0 909 557
    Component: 2.0L R4/5VS 0003
    Coding: 0011501
    Shop #: WSC 63351
    1 Fault Found:
17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Lean
    P1136 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded
    Readiness: 0000 0000

Does anyone know what this means and should I be worried?

    Cheers, Lee

Mines been running since Febuary with the same fault. I parked in Tesco came back to the car, battery dead, the AA did a diagnostic check as he noticed my engine management light on, it came up exactly the same fault, he didn't seem to think it was anything too serious although others here may have a different view.

Cheers Andy, I've cleared the error and I'll see how it goes. If I get anyother errors I'll take it to a garage and let them see what's what.

Your car hasn't been serviced recently has it ??

Is it rough at idle ?? If so its because there is a vacuum leak

    Hi Blackpool1974 and Paul20v,

My car was serviced last November. No the car is running fine at idle. The fault appeard 3 weeks ago then on Sunday.

When you say a vaccum leak what does that mean? Sorry I'm not that up on the internals of a car

Vac leaks can be on anything associated with the inlet manifold
    pipes coming off it etc
also the gasket itself but generally its pipes cracked split etc bleeding air into the manifold when and where it shouldnt be.

Cheers Paul, That doesn't sound to good... How can I check to see if it's a vac leak?

As my car is running fine at idle and has no issues with setting off or driving could the error be something else?

    Sorry to keep asking questions.
