    Hi all

O.k Im looking for a golf gt tdi (150) but there seem to be more 130's and 140's but I dont want to settle for anything other than the 150 am i being to pickie about it. I wondered if 1 of you could let me know the 0-60 times on each of them, I do intend to modify it so i figure starting at th 150 would be best. and also everyone raved about the gt tdi when it came out but what makes it better than the v5 and other models.

I used to own a golf and cant wait to get back in one.

    cheers everyone

    correct.....

only engines available in the 1.9 tdi are the 90 & 110 (VE) engines and the 115,130 & 150 (PD) engines.

no such thing as a 140bhp with the 1.9 tdi im afraid

in regards to the power stats try PARKERS

as for the gt tdi... its the highest range model you can get in the tdi range. the range goes from the S model, through SE to GT tdi....

each model has its own set of standard features, the GT having the highest....

re the 'v5' bit... the v5 is a petrol, its nigh on impossible to draw comparisons between the petrol golfs and the diesels... the only similarities they share are the model shape and specs. the V5 is a 2.3 v5 engine.... some people would say the cheaper alternative to a 2.8 v6 4motion....

i presume from the fact that you have opted for a diesel, you realise how economical they are, whilst providing a good level of performance, but if it is sheer performance you are after...go with the petrol...

audi do a 140 brake 1.9 diesel dont they? maybe thats where he got it from...

150 is quick...and easily chips up to about 180bhp...ive been in an audi 180bhp diesel and it was pretty fast..faster than most cars on the street id say..

ur probably looking at getting there in the late 7s? early 8s? but pull is STRONG...you'll really feel it..it will feel alot quicker than that

anyway as carl says...go for a petrol if your wanting a performance motor...

diesels say economy all over them you see...dont get you too much street cred

the way it was explained to me, for rough power estimates, all PD engines (115,130,150) are roughly capable of around 45/50bhp gains, without any further modifications... of course if you start doing the whole front mounted intercooler, uprated clutch/flywheel, hybrid turbo etc etc youll be pushing past 200bhp unfortunatley, my bank says im in enough debt thought

Not worth it either! even if i had the money..i wouldnt go spending 5-6 k to totally modify the car... better to buy something else..

Anyway a 200bhp diesel is more than enough for most people unless your downsizing from a BM M5 or something..

if you get one, take all the badges off it..and wait for someone to laugh at the sound of your diesel engine..and then Blow him out of the water with it pleaseeee..I love it when that happens

I see chipped white vans do it all the time!

The PD130 and PD150 TDI engines are identical, they both tune up to the same bhp and torque. The standard 130 seems a bit more flexible than the 150.

The VNT-17 on the 150 has slightly better internals/core than the VNT-17 on the 130, which may give a fractionally cooler charge.

I think the main difference between the 130 & 150 is slightly better boost and mapping, combined with larger front mounted intercooler.
