Realistic MPG for 1.8 TFSI and 2.0 TFSI?

I'm looking at ditching my Focus ST and switching to an A3 (Sportback most likely) or a GTi. I'm considering the 1.8 TFSI and 2.0 TFSI but want to know about the real petrol consumption.

I commute mostly through town with a brief bit of A-road to work everyday (10 miles each way), and I get 25 mpg in my Focus even when driving conservatively. I'm really hoping an Audi can offer better MPG without too much loss of performance.

So what's a realistic combined MPG for the 1.8 and 2.0 models? If I can only hit 30mpg on motorways then there's not much point in me spending the extra money!

In my 2.0 TFSI, I've been doing about 380 miles on a tank. When I fill up I put in around 52 litres or 11.4 gallons, so that equates to about 33mpg.

It was slightly more with my old 1.8T.

I have 2007 2.0TFSI manual with Quattro. the long term memory says 25-26mpg. on the motorway at 70-75 cruise it gets over 30mpg but I've never bettered 33mpg. I always have the air-con on and a FWD (non quattro) should be a 1-2mpg better than my car.

New, 09, 2.0TFSI have significantly better fuel economy so ideally you need to get some information from an owner of a 2009MY car.

I have an 09 1.8Tfsi S-Tronic which I run on ordinary unleaded. It gives about 33mpg around town and 45mpg on long motorway runs. With only 2k miles on the clock it's still running in and slowly improving.

Sticking at around 65-70 including two long runs then I just got 460 miles to a tank

That's good, shows how much better the new models are (see my figures above for the 07 2.0TFSI)

So far getting about 33 mpg on a 10-mile commute across town, with lots of waiting at traffic queues at traffic lights, etc. I'm still on the fuel the dealer had provided, not sure what grade it is. I am told that super-unleaded will provide better economy, so I may experiment.

It's hard to compare two models with different drivers in different parts of the country, different driving habbits and different routes / journeys.

MPG will, of course, improve as the engine wears in - I actually did the same journey as I got 450 miles per tank in the second week of ownership and I got 370 miles to the tank. I'm seeing MPG improvements; albeit my drive to work is on a motorway that generally stays around 60-70 due to traffic so I tend to get a fair bit more than you 'stop start' city folk.
