Hi New here, hope you can help...

I have a P Reg MK3 Golf 1.9 TDi. this morning i had a little trouble getting it into first gear, but it went in and i drove the 1.5 miles to my daughters nursery.....

When i got back in the car, i had no reverse gear!!! i had to be pushed out on the road then i found the only gear i could use was 3rd and even that was slipping loads.

I also noticed that i seemed to have gained a 6th gear position, if i push down then over to the left then down it seems to go into gear, but doesn't go anywhere!!!!!!

Anyone any ideas on this, My immediate thought was gearbox gone, but i am thinking maybe it's the clutch, but i would have expected some kind of warning about that failing on me..

I will just add that i can select all the gears but i get no drive when i lift the clutch..

Any help or advise would be great..

    Thanks

    Richard
