hi, hope you can help. Recently, when going over small bumps on the road and bumps on corners the rear of the car starts wobbling, and it feels like the back of the car is going to slide out. Someone mentioned about the anti-roll bar linkage, would that be the most likely problem? It seems fine on the straight and over larger things like speed bumps and chavs!

    Many thanks!

If its a saloon, i would check the rear springs as they are prone to snap and will make the car feel weird but wont drop the car as the bit that breakes is still on the shock's taller. Upgrade the shocks as they would be knackered too...If the springs are ok, then its the bushes but, me moneys ar on the springs !

recently had the exact same thing on my car, the rear shocks were shot. take a close look at the damper rod for oil leaks.
once off the car, i cycled the damper by hand with the spring off and it would randomly shoot through its travel with little force due to lack of oil inside.

I have the same issue. Do you think its wise to buy second hand scrappie parts? I have a 96 N A4 1.8T Sport and the back of the car feels loose over rougher roads and like a bouncy castle over a speed hump. Rear suspension kits for these cars seem to be 400 pounds upwards on every site i have seen whereas i can get 2 x springs and 2 x shocks from scrappies delivered to my door for 80quid. I am in 2 minds because the whole reason i have the car is it is bullet proof and has the most comprehensive service history i have ever seen with a full folder of everything thats ever been bought for the car including screenwash!

there are certain things from a scrappie that make sense, but used springs and shocks arnt one of them. try somewhere like gsf or ecp.
